1. Summer Weather in the Castelo Branco District is Typically Hot
- The central region of Portugal is routinely hot and dry in June and July, and temperatures above 30°C are expected.
- Official 1991-2020 data from the Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) covering the Beira Baixa region shows average daily maximum temperatures of 32.5°C during July and August.
- Data going back six years has also shown temperatures can exceed the 40°C mark in the months of June and July.
2. Early 2026 Saw Persistent Heavy Rainfall
According to IPMA:
- Mainland Portugal experienced its wettest February in 47 years.
- January 2026 was officially classified as the 14th rainiest since 1931.
- Between October and February, mainland Portugal recorded its wettest first five months of a hydrological year in 30 years.
- Excessive rain has saturated the soil at Boomland, making the landscape look much greener than usual at this time of year.
3. Heatwaves In Europe vs Inland Portugal
- The IPMA has reported that average temperatures in mainland Portugal are expected to rise above 3°C to 7°C due to an anti-cyclone (high-pressure system) positioned to the north/northwest of the Azores archipelago.
- However, in contrast to the unprecedented heatwaves sweeping across Europe, high summer temperatures are common for the inland Castelo Branco district and Idanha-a-Nova area.
4. Keeping You Safe And Cool At Boomland
Boomland is an officially licensed festival site, managed year-round in accordance with Portuguese environmental regulations. Our safety measures are highly established and inspected by local authorities.
Here are some of the ways we keep you safe and cool at Being Gathering:
- There are 57 free drinking water taps located throughout the festival site.
- For your comfort, there are no Shower Times. This means you can take a shower to cool down at any point during the day or night.
- There is 2.5 km of lake waterfront, of which 1.5km is supervised by a lifeguard from 09:00 to 20:00.
- Ice is available to purchase at the Beach Bar.
- Cold, affordable water is available at the bars.
- The Sacred Fire bar and Beach Bar are open 24h.
- The majority of the festival is shaded. A the Being Fields, Sacred Fire and Young Dragons area, where the whole festival essentially happens, there are 27 000 m2 of natural shade.
- 100% of the artistic areas are shaded.
- The Hospital is open 24h from 1 to 6 July.
6. Safety Measures & Fire Prevention
- Fires of any kind are strictly not permitted at the Boomland site.
- Please do not light any incense or candles.
- Carry a portable ashtray. Never throw cigarette butts on the ground.
- No fire is used in the festival programme.
- Do not bring camping gas canisters, as they will be confiscated.
- Some safety measures include:
- Firefighters are on site.
- 20 fire hoses.
- 300 fire extinguishers.
- In the event of an incident, emergency contacts are available at the Info Stand.
